a thing or two about my cat ... or me.
he's known to be independent. he's smart. he knows when i'm not feeling too happy, when something's bothering me. he'd run to my room. he'd look at me, waiting for me on my bed to pat his head, to rub his neck and to tickle his tummy. it seems as though he wants me to not feel what i was feeling. to be selfless and give all my attention to him.
but then again, he's just a cat. sometimes cats need your attention. as and when they feel threatened or insecure. maybe, he was seeking attention from me. he wanted me to assure him that he's still in my heart. that i'd be with him. that i won't take in any other cats. he needed that physical contact from me to know that i mean what i said. to pamper him with tickles and to tell him all that, over and over again. even knowing all that in his small little heart (head), he'd still feel slightly unconvinced. he'd push his head against my hands. urging me to go on. to keeping messing with his forehead. to rub him where he likes it. and when he feels convinced, he'd move away from me. not far. just at the other end of my bed, to look at me and still be sure that i will be there when he needs me. when he needs me to give him that security. when he needs just that.
question - can i be that selfless person and shower him with all my attention despite what i feel at that moment or am i already the cat?

and all i asked for was a little sunshine.
it's been so hot these past few days. i'd perspire sitting down. i'd perspire doing nothing.
i'm amused by some people and how they react. i still get questions on how has my health been since the fiasco. i still have people asking me how i got it and whether it was denggi. i'd tell them what it was - viral fever. what is viral fever, they ask.
"viral fever is fever that is caused by viral infection. some are very contagious, but most of them are not dangerous. they are self-contained though they may progress easily and may lead to death. it can be spread through the consumption of contaminated food or drink, or even through direct contact. symptoms include running nose, inflammation of throat, body aches, headache, skin rash, shivering, irritability and many others. it can be diagnosed through the level of your white bloods cells (also known as platelets). unlike, bacterial fever where the platelets count increase, viral fever causes the platelets count to decrease tremendously. medicines can be given to lower down the temperature, antiviral treatment is not advised. bed rest and sufficient fluid intake is recommended. viral fever cannot be prevented."
when asked, i won't go to the extend of explaining my then condition to them in detail as how i have above. i'd just say that it's easily caught especially when you immune system is low and that the virus can be in anyone. that there's no other cure other than eating your paracetamol, drinking lots of water and fighting it out.
given my simple explanation, it's enough to see how people can inch or (slightly) jump away from me upon hearing the first sentence that they hear from me. it's funny. really funny. they become very cautious. and then they will ask, are you okay now?
most of the time, i'd love to answer them in this manner - well, if i'm not better now. would i be standing here talking to you? i'd probably be dead.
that is of course, my answer to you if you flinch. then again, you did ask about me. so, i'd take that as a form of concern. thank you.

Happy (Labour) Day!
well, let's hope today's not the day that many mothers-to-be are in labour! haha. okay, DILA lame. last night, i made at least 10 rounds at a place where i tried on too many clothes for my own good. i was at Esprit!, to utilise my voucher which expired yestderday. okay, tip to self - if you want to go shopping on your own and you have vouchers to use up, make sure you freaking understand the terms before plunging into a last minute shopping on the day of expiry of the vouchers.
my ideal discount fantasy - 10% for usual membership discount, additional 10% discount on all items.
my ideal voucher fantasy - purchase any top at regular price and get any bottom at 25% off.
i spent an hour and a half or so, tyring all the clothes i thought i would buy or intended to buy initially. the time passed so fast, i didn't realise it was closing time already. i settled for 3 tops and a skirt. i was pretty satisfied with my choices. with a rough calculation in my head, i headed to the counter to make my payment, produced my membership card and the voucher i had. just to be told that my voucher is not applicable. i was suprised. so, i asked the cashier to explain the whole discount promotion to me. she did patiently and it was closing time, mind you.
here's the real deal:
promotion 1 - 10% for usual membership discount, purchase any top at regular price and get any bottom (pants only) at 25% off.
promotion 2 - 10% for usual membership discount, purchase any top at regular price and get 20% off denim (pants only). get additional 10% discount on top of the 20% discount on your denim bottom.
see where i went wrong? yea, so i wasn't entitled to any of the above discount what more the discount i had formed in my head for a whole month before last night. i ended up spending about $160 bucks. plus $36 on a pair of wedge heels. it's not so bad, i love my purchases. plus, retail theraphy always works. =)
i heard too, someone went to JurongPoint and found a dungaree (that's what she actually messaged me!) skirt. something she couldn't find during our Bangkok trip. she ended up $80 not as rich. haha. so Awin, let's go take that half day from work and head down to Esprit! Spa. or we can always go BodyShop-ping!

i did not forget. i don't remember being told.
yea, i'm pissed.
anyway, something someone said recently got me really upset. it wasn't even told to me directly. someone else told me. and i appreciate that. i don't like to be kept in the dark. those words that came out sounded as though there wasn't the slightest bit of memory of what happened in the past. it sounded bitter. it sounded envious. it sounded nothing like joy.
i'm not the type who would compare apples to apples. but those words got me thinking about what i had done before. what i would do before. what i would still do now if those words weren't spoken. if what happened, had not happened. if there hadn't been any avoidance in the first place.
now that i'm affected by it, i really hope i can let myself pass it and not let it affect anything else. i hope that someone didn't mean it.

i got to admit. it was fun. yesterday, Nik and i went to PS to watch Street Kings. the show was great! the plot was quite twisted though.
after that, we had a good dinner at East Coast. how can you resist BBQ chicken wings and satay?! yummy! i like! plus my favourite drink, sugarcane with lemon. double yummy! we felt that the chicken wings and satay weren't enough, we ordered mutton chop. i had fresh coconut after dinner and my darling boyfriend scraped the coconut so clean, he didn't realised it. Yan and Awin called when we were almost done with dinner, to ask if they could join us. the next thing we know, Ewik and Shami (i don't know how it's spelt so i'm guessing), Dzaf, Rik and Bernard came too. that made their dinner more enjoyable. their randomness, it's tummy aching.
dinner was more like supper since we finished close to midnight. we went over to Bernard's place to watch Blackburn vs Manchester United. Manchester was so close to losing. they weren't playing well with each other, i must say. wrong choice of players. Hezwan, Zad, Syadie and Asraf came too. after soccer, the guys indulged in Army of 2 on XBox. while Awin and me were enjoying some good beauty sleep.
we woke up at 830 and headed to MacDonalds (Kallang) for some good breakfast. so, i just came back from sending my boyfriend and the two small boys home. it's all nothing but goodness. now, enjoy your lazy Sunday people. or at least mine! haha.
