the gaping truth.

i enjoy people watching. sometimes, so much that the people i watch noticed me watching them. they in turn, think that i am out to find fault. to play the staring game. not my intention. i'm just fascinated by how some people move, talk, dress etc.

well, i've been noticing 2 girls of late. 2 different individuals, on 2 different days. one common advice i have for them, "invest in a bra that fits your breast size". it's not nice to say it to their faces but i really wish i could.

these girls, or rather women, seemed so oblivious to their surroundings. completely ignorant. how is it that they can wear a bra that leaves a gaping hole and still be able to walk around with a loose, low cut top. try to picture what i'm saying here. i'm not very descriptive but i'm sure you can see what i mean. if you can't, call me and i'll show you. hah.

putting on a top that reveals your cleavage is something we see quite often. in cases where you have none to show, please refrain from doing so. i am not discriminating women who have small breasts or are flat chested. hey, i'm not very blessed in that area either. so, i'm not discriminating. i'm stating facts.

these women, they show off more than they should. leaving a very bad impression on people around them. well, on me at least. one of them even had a man (which i honestly believed was of Chinese national), staring straight at her. right through her top and beneath her bra. because her bra just don't serve its purpose. like i said, a gaping hole. to make me irk more, she was with her boyfriend. wouldn't the boyfriend notice such indecency? i bet he did as they were so intimately whispering and lovingly gazing at each other. how is it possible that both of them are completely ignorant of this?!

the other woman, she also has a boyfriend. and yet, he doesn't seem to be doing anything proper to help her retain what dignity of hers she had left. if i were the boyfriends of these women, i would definitely buy them proper bras. or at least, make them cover what i would say unnecessary excessive exposure.

i know my boyfriend would. i love him to bits.

so ladies, don't give me a reason to stare.

baby's day out: Chinatown

i took leave today or rather MC since i went to the doctor to get some more antibiotics and lotion. i didn't know i could get them off the counter and need not consult a doctor. damn, i paid additional $36 for consultation when the only thing the doctor said to me was "okay". it's not so bad since i am making a claim from my company. haha. suck them dry while i can. which reminds me, i need to make a dental appointment.

the plan for today was to have BK breakfast since i was craving turkey ham croissanwich. we didn't have any. save it for the next time. continuing with the plan, i met le boyfriend in Chinatown with lots of things in mind. mainly to look for a cheongsam dress, to go for our spa appointment and the least of all things, to be served a notice at Court 26N.

i got there early and decided to walk around while waiting for Nik. i was reminded of many events that took place during my internship at David Rasif & Partners. for your information (to diverse slightly), David Rasif absconded $4million of client's money, leaving his dad, wife and 2 kids behind in Singapore. last reported that he was seen in Thailand. up to date, he has yet to be found. crazy or what?! anyway, the MacDonalds and the warong opposite Chinatownpoint (where you can always find me and Az sobering up after a night long of partying). Hong Lim Complex and People Park. good, good memories.

we found a nice, light pink cheongsam dress for $49. somewhere between Temple Street and Smith Street. the truth is, Chinatown is not that big. we walked and walked, and realised that we had rounded up the whole place in a circle. okay, maybe it's not that small. we some time to kill before our spa appointment at 4pm so we ate at Dallas, a UK based fast food restaurant (so they claim). i thought the chicken tasted like KFC's chicken. it's not much different. you know, that familiar KFC taste. haha.

still having time to kill, we walked some more. point to take note of, Chinatown does not have "friendly" public toilets. haha. might i add, they have more R21 shops in Chinatown than there are in Orchard. feeling Chinese, we bought 4 VCDs that were all about fighting and all those martial arts moves. cheap, cheap! $20 only! finally, we went for our massage at Pagoda Street. not a satisfying session this time round.

on we went to the Subordinate Courts. here is where my darling had to be served with a notice as he was caught for littering a cigarette butt. 2nd offence. the queue was ridiculous. we waited for 2 hours to see the judge. and all these to be told that the session will be postponed to October in Court 14 instead. like what the heck?! something is definitely wrong somewhere.

nevertheless, we had an adventurous and fun day. i know i enjoyed it, very much. =)

08/08/08 = 8 million?!

guess who's boyfriend is on the way to KL with his family while she's typing all these. MY boyfriend. =(

bummer that he's not going to be around this weekend. though i would say it's a good time for me to catch up on my sleep. the last weekend was spent on SINGFEST and i tell you, it was awesome. the performances were superb. New Found Glory, Lost Prophets, Simple Plan, Travis, Jason Mraz, Rick Astley, Pussycat Dolls and Alicia Keys!! we missed Stacie Orrico though. i wonder if her mole's still intact. ouch! haha. i'll post the pictures if i can find the time to this weekend. heh.

so my point is that i was hoping to catch up on my sleep. as well as to catch up on my reading. to be honest, i haven't been reading and i know i should if i want to score. though i don't want to be burned out too early in the race. so, what should i do? i should start somewhere somehow.

charity work, alright.

i'm sure you've seen these group of people that carry around a clear folder with their identification or certificate of employment to a certain company, they also carry with them a handful of pens and they can usually be found outside of shopping mall or prominent train stations.

yes, they that i am referring to are the people who claim to work for their living by asking for donations from you. i've noticed that recently the trend has increased rapidly. you see them everywhere.

these companies "hire" ex-convicts and make them wallow in the society's pity towards them. why am i being so harsh? i feel that there is no justified reason for such companies to use these people and earn profits for themselves. why? you make a donation of $2 for a pen that cost 50cents. from what i heard from one of the "employees", he earns 50% from the whole day's "sale". at the end of the day, the companies will earn a 100% profit. true, the "employee" will earn his wage, which is dependent on how many people are willing to purchase a 50cents pen for $2, all in the name of helping the society's ex-convicts.

with more awareness created by the government towards people with criminal records, such companies will not hesitate to take opportunities to bask in reaping profits masked by the intention of charitable work.

in short, these ex-convicts are not learning anything much to get themselves back onto the right path of society. they make themselves look pitiful in order to have people buying from them - "i've just been released from prison in March for the crime of housebreaking", "by buying these pens, you will be helping me earn my daily salary" or "i have been working the whole day and it would make my day if you could buy these pens from me". tell me, how is this beneficial to these people when they have to "beg"? how could this be called helping if all you get is pity?

it also creates unnecessary loitering and grouping of people in public places. they sit around and group together. it also brings about public harrassment. some of them do not know when to stop. they will go on and on, being irritatingly persistent.

and when will it stop? are these people allowed to use this reason forever? if that's the case, when will they ever be able to stand up on their own two feet? these companies give ex-convicts reasons not to look scout for a proper job - "oh, it's hard to ex-convicts to get a job". initially, yes. eventually, you will be able to secure one if you can convince your interviewer that you are willing to learn and have changed for the better. though not all the apples are bad.

i'm not saying that we should not give support or acceptance to ex-convicts. i feel that these companies should not be given such license easily. it will lead to an abuse of charity. there are companies out there who are for the Yellow Ribbon Project. they hire ex-convicts as waiters/waitresses, delivery/courier person and many other positions that are readily available for them. and i feel that when given such working positions, these ex-convicts will have some decent dignity and confidence to start anew.

wouldn't they then be the same as the auntie selling tissue paper? only "employed".
